So the big day came – we dropped our oldest off at Union College near Albany. It was harder than I ever thought possible. But like they say, “he’s ready, we’re not.”
I’m a sweaty mess after moving him in, but here we are:
The room is fine, probably better for the boys than for the girls. He fit all of his clothes and things just fine and has a good setup. His roommate seems nice, and all is good. Bobby will be working in the gym, which is a plum job compared to answering phones in admissions or something. The school is a big hockey school and I’m sure he’ll meet lots of kids there. We also saw his course schedule, which is a grueling 9 hours a week! ?
Here are some campus photos. It reminds me a lot of the small liberal arts college I went to, and I couldn’t be more excited for him. The first photo is his dorm:
He texted me the first night that he forgot his Xbox cable, which sounded about right. He forgot that and his fan that I bought him, but did try to bring a huge rug pad that I had bought for the house. He didn’t even know what it was but packed it anyway…. haha!!!
Thank you all for your support during this new adventure. So many of you have been through it, and it’s helped me tremendously to hear that it will get better!
